EIGHT FLAGS JEEP CLUB CERT TEAM!

IMG_2800.jpeg

The Jeep CERT team can assist Nassau County law enforcement  & Emergency Mgmt as civilian volunteers by contributing their time, vehicles and off-road skills. Jeeps can help cover terrain that would be inaccessible to most patrol vehicles. Members completed a 12-13 hr on-line program and a two-day classroom hands/on which included basic first aid techniques, fire safety, disaster & emergency response skills, team organization and a practical tornado disaster simulation.

Eight Flags Jeep Club has taken a stand and joined hundreds of other Jeep enthusiasts by becoming an official "Tread Lightly!" member to keep the outdoors healthy, open and accessible and to promote safe and responsible four-wheeling.

TREAD PRINCIPLES:

Travel Responsibly on land by staying on designated roads, trails and area.

Respect the Rights of Others including private property owners, all recreational trail users, campers & others so they can enjoy their recreational activities undisturbed.

Educate Yourself prior to your trip by obtaining travel maps and regulations from public agencies.

Avoid Sensitive Areas on land such as meadows, lake shores, wetlands & streams.  Stay on designated routes.

Do Your Part by modeling appropriate behavior, leaving the area better than you found it, properly disposing of waste, minimizing the use of fire, avoiding the spread of invasive species and repairing degraded areas.

Didn't get many pictures this year due to the drizzly rain. A couple of our Jeeps got stuck in the mud, no biggie, and overall a good day for a good cause- to honor those that lost their lives in the line of duty and raise money for their families.
